Who Am I?

Every day we ask ourselves, Who am I? We don't use these words exactly, but we do ask. What to wear; How to act; Who to be with; What to say; What to watch; What to listen to? We ask adults, children, and everyone in between.

We are all made with a desire to be like or identify with other people. We are social creatures who don’t want to be different. We want to be normal, just like everybody else.

God created us to be unique. No two people are the same. Even twins' DNA makeup isn't the same. We were created by the Master of the Universe, the One who created all things on Earth and in the Heavens, and outer space.

But of all the creations, we are His greatest creation, in whom He delights.

We have questions about who we are. We need answers. The answers are found in God. Now, how can we get answers from God? We ask, pray, read scripture, meet with other believers, and listen. Sometimes God speaks, and we don’t hear because we’re not listening. Sometimes, I know that it seems like God is yelling at me. Not literally, but still, it seems so blatant that I have to laugh when I finally hear Him telling me something. It could be a song on the radio, a sermon, or a Sunday school devotion. It could be a rainbow or a bolt of lightning. Whatever form it comes in, we need to listen.

“Be still and know I am God.”  Psalms 46:10
