Have Your Found Jesus

Have you found Jesus?  My husband always likes to answer this question with the response, “I didn’t know He was missing.” It is our theological culture to ask this question. God is not missing. He has not gone anywhere.  He’s everywhere.  Romans 1:20 tells us, “For His invisible attributes, namely His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.” John 4:24a tells us, “God is a Spirit.”  John 1:1-2 lets us know that He’s not just everywhere, but always.  “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was at the beginning with God.” God hasn’t gone anywhere.

So, why do we ask?  We’re asking to know if you have accepted Him as your Savior.  But that leads to another question.  “Why do I need to be saved?  I’m not lost, stranded, or in danger.”  Not literally, in the world’s view, but yes, we all are.

We’re all lost.  Luke 19:10 tells us that Jesus came to seek and save that which is lost.  Psalm 119:176 says, “I have gone astray like a lost sheep, seek your servant, for I do not forget your commandments.”  We became lost in the garden when Adam and Eve ate from the tree, and sin entered the world.  Sin separates us from God.

What about stranded?  Yes, God made us to commune with Him when we are adopted into His Kingdom.  Romans 8:16-17 says, “The Spirit (God) itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God and joint heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be glorified together.” So, if we’re God’s children, Earth isn’t our home. Our home is  Heaven. We are stranded here. Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us in the Father’s house. (John 14:2). Until then, we’re stranded here.

Then, am I in danger? This one is easy to understand, if we pay attention to the world around us: violence, war, and natural disasters. People die from these causes every day. That’s not the only danger we face. We need a savior. Romans 6:3a says, “The wages of sin is death.”  We’re all sinners. We all deserve a death sentence.  But John 3:16 tells us, "For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten son. That whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  But there will be many who do not believe.  “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment” (Matthew 25:46a).

So, have you “found” God? Have you been saved? You don’t have to look far. “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him and he with Me.” (Romans 3:20). He will come to you.  Matthew 18:12-14 says He will search for you. “Will the shepherd not leave the 99 on a hill and go to look for the one that wandered off?” In the same way, your Father in Heaven is not willing that any of these should perish.

So: Be still, listen, and know - HE is GOD! And He is Here! Found Him!
